Lawrence Ryan

 

Lawrence B. Ryan is the founder of the consulting firm of Lawrence Ryan International (LRI), which provides representation and guidance on business development, strategic planning, contracting requirements and government relations to American and international companies in the advanced technology sector.  He brings to LRI’s clients an extensive knowledge of the aerospace, high technology and national security industries, acquired during his more then forty years experience in business and government.

 

Prior to establishing LRI in 1993, Ryan held senior-level positions in the U.S. Department of Commerce, first as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Aerospace in the International Trade Administration and then as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Technology and Aerospace Industries.  In both positions, he coordinated closely with the business community to develop strategies to enhance the competitiveness of U. S. aerospace and high technology industries by identifying and working to remove domestic and foreign impediments to trade.

 

Before he was appointed to the Commerce Department, Ryan was an executive with Textron, a leading multi-industry corporation, serving as Vice President of Washington Operations for Bell Aerospace Textron. Prior to that, he held the position of Vice President of Business Development in the Bell Aerospace office in Buffalo, New York.  Ryan has also served as Vice President for Marketing at the Sierra Division of LTV Aerospace and Defense Company, and has held several marketing positions with the Sperry Corporation.

 

Ryan is active in professional, philanthropic and community organizations.  He has served as National Secretary of the Airlift/Tanker Association and as a Principal on the Council for Excellence in Government.  In addition, he has been a member of the Marketing Committee of the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County, and a Trustee of the Western New York Chapter, Leukemia Society of North America. Ryan is currently on the Board of Directors of the Kennedy Institute that serves the developmentally disabled.

 

He served in the United States Army as a commissioned officer in the XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery.  Ryan also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania.
