STATE TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARD PROGRAM
DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
Purpose
The purpose of the program is to recognize one District of Columbia high school classroom teacher each year at the state level for his or her accomplishments and achievements in exciting students about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and preparing them to use and contribute to tomorrow’s technologies. This is a unique opportunity for the Nation's Capital Chapter to reward special teachers in the District who are furthering excellence and making coming to class an adventure.
Guidelines & Criteria
Only one teacher per year in a District of Columbia high school can be selected for this award
Air Force Association elected chapter officers and immediate family members (spouse/children) not eligible
A letter of recommendation from the school principal, head of school or headmaster must accompany the nomination
The program runs from May 1 – April 30 of each year
